OF THE EATEN Poetry & Prose
"Of the Eaten" is a genre-bending poetry and prose book that defies conventional standards in poetry. The book follows the life cycle of every life, as the mysterious narrator is cursed to live out humanity, and slowly become it. The book plays with themes of human nature, evolution, self-cannibalism, identity, and mythology. The reading experience is layered, as the book's formatting allows the reader to experience the life cycle in both directions, for a different experience each time. As the reader progresses, they are acquainted with the narrator, who is both the protagonist and the antagonist, the human and the other. The book sheds light on the outside perspective of the human experience and leaves the reader with a haunting expression of love, age, and growth.
Tobi Brun is chronically obsessed with the human condition, loves their cats, and is probably up past their bedtime. Tobi is a creative writing adjunct, barista, and a burnt-out 20-something looking for the meaning of life. They write fiction, poetry, and prose. Tobi is a Dayton native writer, educator, and founder of the Indie Publishing Press ‘The Word’s Faire’. Tobi is a Wright State grad with a BA in English and writes experimental short fiction and prose. They enjoy listening to horror podcasts while sipping a strong cup of tea and cuddling their two cats Ronny and Ravi. One could find them lying in the sun, or peeking around corners.
